INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, interviewed Linda Lagemann, a national expert on the damage being done in our society by the “mental health” field.

We Americans are bombarded by TV commercials for psychiatric drugs telling us that every human struggle we experience is a mental illness needing a pill to fix. We hear repeatedly in the news how so many Americans suffer from mental illness — 1 in 5 is a commonly quoted figure. What if all these messages were actually creating more problems for people? If you keep telling people over and over that they are sick, you will cause some people to get sick. The counterpart of the placebo effect (experiencing a positive result because you expect to)is called the nocebo effect, from the Latin verb nocere (to cause harm). This is when a person experiences some negative symptom because they were told to expect it. The aggressive marketing of psychiatric drugs and media fear mongering just may be creating a nocebo effect, making people sick. Let’s break that curse. Remember what is revealed in the placebo effect — the power we have to change our condition for the positive.

Linda Lagemann is a national expert on the damage being done in our society by psychiatry and psychology — the “mental health” profession. She has been interviewed on radio shows across the country, advised on legislation, been interviewed on court TV, been a contributor on Huffington Post, and was featured in the independent documentary The Big Lie: American Addict 2.
