INTERVIEW ON THE PRICE OF BUSINESS SHOW, MEDIA PARTNER OF THIS SITE.

Recently Kevin Price, Host of the nationally syndicated Price of Business Show, welcomed Dr. Terry McIvor to provide another commentary in a series.

The Dr. Terry McIvor Commentaries

Hypnosis, a state of deep relaxation and focused attention, triggers changes in brain activity that facilitate the acceptance of suggestions. Key changes include:

  • Decreased activity in the lateral prefrontal cortex.
  • Enhanced receptivity to suggestions.
  • Increased activity in areas involved in focused attention.

Hypnosis also stimulates increased connectivity between the executive-control and salience networks, and decreases activity in the default mode network (DMN), heightening focus on suggestions rather than self-generated thoughts. These neural changes have therapeutic potential, disrupting unhelpful thought patterns and reshaping neural pathways linked to fear responses or bad habits. Dr. Terry McIvor has suggested this theory of brain changes during hypnosis based on the latest research. However, more needs to be done within neuroscience to get a more complete picture.
