On a recent Price of Business show, Host Kevin Price talked trade, immigration policy, and more with Trump’s former Council of Economic Advisors Chief Economist, Casey Mulligan.
This was a lively conversation which shows that an assessment of the pros and cons of the Trump administration is no easy task.
A little-known fact about trade policy is that President Trump’s has been a new and improved version of President Reagan’s. Even some of the Reagan trade team is now on Trump’s. Curiously, one of Ronald Reagan’s vocal opponents, Peter Navarro, is on Trump’s team too. Although Navarro projects populist sentiments, he is many times an obstacle in President Trump’s quest to take away special-interest favors. Navarro help stopped the President’s attempt to lower energy prices in New England, and unsuccessfully tried to prevent the President from “making blue states pay for their own socialism” by taking away the state and local tax deduction.
