Many Americans may be starting the year on a budget after a record-setting season for holiday spending. But for travelers looking to start 2019 with a trip, CheapTickets is sharing its nine cheapest destinations to travel to in the new year.

The budget travel site compared average vacation package prices, roundtrip airfare and daily hotel rates with travel dates from January 1-March 31, 2019. The following destinations are the nine cheapest in each category.

“There are great deals to top destinations now through spring break season,” said Justine McDonald, travel expert for CheapTickets. “If you’re on a budget, now’s the time to check off some of those bucket list trips while airfares are low and before hotel rates ramp up for the busy spring and summer seasons.”

CheapTickets is also sharing information about the best places to save big in 2019. The site looked at hot spots with the biggest year-over-year savings in the first quarter compared with the same time last year. According to McDonald, budget-conscious travelers should get their passports ready.

“If your New Year’s resolution included traveling out of the country, then you really should be booking your next trip sooner than later. From Caribbean beaches to Europe’s most popular capital cities, there are incredible savings out there for those who can travel early in 2019.”

Travel Planning on a Budget
A new tool from CheapTickets helps travelers plan their next getaway no matter their budget. With Vacation Value Finder, users input the price they want to pay and top trip preferences, such as locales that are hot or cold, family friendly or romantic, relaxing or active. The tool matches travelers with bookable itineraries from a database of 100+ popular destinations and provides helpful information such as weather forecasts, activity recommendations and area attractions. Travelers who book a trip using the tool when it launches on January 14 through January 30, 2019 will be entered into a sweepstakes where two winners will be reimbursed for their trip up to $2,500.

For those who can’t afford a getaway just yet, McDonald says travelers can still save on last-minute trips.

“We compared booking windows on CheapTickets for the first half of the year and found that travelers can save the most when they book vacation packages and hotels as little as one week out. So there’s plenty of time to save if you need extra time to build up your bank account.”
