It is Time for More Arrested Development!
This information came from an OLD press release. But who cared about it last year when there would be TWELVE MONTHS before it would happen. Now it is about to happen — May 29 — Arrested Development’s fifth season will arrive.
According to a statement from Netlix:

Netflix today announced series creator Mitchell Hurwitz and the entire series regular cast, including: Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat will return for a fifth season to premiere exclusively for Netflix members worldwide in 2018.

“Arrested Development centers around Michael Bluth (Jason Bateman) and his eccentric family comprised of his son George Michael (Michael Cera), his father George Bluth Sr. (Jeffrey Tambor), his mother Lucille (Jessica Walter), his brothers George Oscar Bluth II (Will Arnett), Buster Bluth (Tony Hale) and sister Lindsay Funke (Portia de Rossi), and Lindsay’s husband Tobias (David Cross) and their daughter Maeby (Alia Shawkat).

Jeffrey Tambor had a tough year producing the latest Arrested Development, after being fired from the Amazon Prime series, Transparent over sexual harassment allegations. Tambor is a celebrated actor of accomplishment, winning an Emmy for the popular series.

Tambor is one of the first actors to undergo the rehabilitation process after facing #MeToo accusations. He talked about steps he took in that direction. According to EW he was “Asked by EW Radio host and panel moderator Jessica Shaw about what conversations he’d had with the Arrested cast after the accusations — which resulted in his termination from Transparent earlier this year — Tambor replied, ‘I sent an email around and said an apology to these people I love so much for the distraction, and you’ll be asked questions, and things like that. I gave a rather in-depth interview to The Hollywood Reporter. I’m no longer playing Maura, I’m going to miss her very much, I’m going to miss that cast that I love so much, and I wish them all the best. But I’m here now as a fan of this wonderful, wonderful group. I’m a little nervous, but I am so excited about this — and such a fan of these people — it is our best season, and these actors just knock it out of the park.’”
Instead of hurting the outlets bringing these disgraced actors back, some of them are celebrating their return and the media has often been neutral or even positive about the development. Free press is what all those shows are looking for.
